Diabetic Molded Orthoses (DMO) “Charcot Foot Deformity”
Orthosis management of the Charcot foot deformity is important from a supportive and protective standpoint. It is essential that the mid-foot or any other portion of the foot at risk of collapse be adequately supported. At the same time, it is equally important to protect any prominences at risk of ulceration from weight-bearing surfaces and irritating shoe pressures.
This goal of support and protection is nicely accomplished with the use of our Diabetic Molded Orthosis. The internal subortholen support will help stabilize the tarsal joints while the softer thermal molded top-liner material reduces pressure and naturally molds to surface contours.
The DMO may be further modified with softer materials inserted over marked osseous prominences.
