Heel Cushioning Modification

Whitney CMO Heel Cushioning

Heel Cushioning can be helpful for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, calcaneal spur syndrome, fat pad atrophy and sub-calcaneal bursitis.

Additional 1/8 inch poron material may be added onto the heel arch areas to provide extra cushioning. This can be helpful for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, calcaneal spur syndrome, fat pad atrophy and sub-calcaneal bursitis.

When precise off-loading or cushioning to a specific area is desired, the foot should be marked to transfer the location to the cast. We will thenĀ  create a dell corresponding to the painful area marked in the cast. This same technique may be employed when a fascial groove is necessary to reduce stress on the inflamed medial band of the plantar fascia.
