Orthosis Balance Position
Every practitioner has a preference in orthotic posting and we appreciate this and have made every effort to accommodate all techniques for posting that may be utilized. Posting instructions with prescribed rearfoot measurements based on STJ neutral or desired balance position may be entered in degrees on the prescription form.
Other practitioners may wish to utilize the “heel to vertical” method in which a vertical heel cast bisection line represents the desired rearfoot balance position.
If the practitioner selects laboratory discretion for posting, we will provide optimal rearfoot alignment via assessment of the Lateral Malleolar Index (LMI) and the plantar Calcano-Cuboid joint plane. Because the forefoot (MTJ) relationship is captured during the casting process, no additional forefoot posting will be incorporated unless you specifically instruct us to do so. The extrinsic full length uniplanar nature of our CMO posting allows for the most accurate and tolerable realignment therapy possible.
